enchanted england: Howick lies just inland from the North Sea, into which Howick burn flows from Howick Hall. The original Earl Grey tea was first blended at Howick by a peripatetic Chinese mandarin in an orange silk scarf and striped magenta trousers, and later marketed by Twinings. Howick Hall was the seat of Prime Minister Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, who, being humble of heart, promptly named the tea after himself.
